NWRA to Tackle ADAS

The National Windshield Repair Association (NWRA) is in the process of adding language addressing Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to its Repair of Laminated Auto Glass™ Standard (ROLAGS).

The issue arose at the NWRA board of directors’ meeting earlier this year when board member Aric Haarala of Glass Mechanix Solutions in Salt Lake City pointed out that the NWRA does not currently have a position on ADAS.

“The ROLAGS Standard represents the windshield repair industry’s statement of best practices, so it’s crucial that the Standard remain up-to-date and address the important issue of ADAS as these become more commonplace,” says NWRA president Troy Mason.

“We are working to draft language that ROLAGS Committee members will vote on at the next meeting,” he adds.

Currently, the leading aftermarket ADAS features include passive-park assist, blind-spot warning, lane-departure warning, passive frontal collision warning and heads-up displays, according to a study by Ducker Research commissioned by the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA).
