NWRA Break Identification Standard Draft Available for Comment

The National Windshield Repair Association’s (NWRA) Break Identification Standard (BIS) has released the first draft of the Standard and it is available for public comment.

The Standard offers a key for identifying the position of a vehicle’s glass breakage (including windshield, sidelites, backlite and sunroof); the position on the particular piece of glass; and the type of break. Types of break included are bull’s-eye, combo, star, pit-fill and half-moon breaks; radiation, edge and floater cracks; and one designation for a service call in which no work is conducted. The full text of the Standard is available here.

Those who wish to submit comments on the draft can do so by contacting NWRA director of operations Janeen Mulligan at jmulligan@nwrassn.org or fax to 540/720-5687 by February 6.

Any comments received will be reviewed at the committee’s upcoming meeting in Orlando, Fla., on February 11, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hyatt Orlando Airport.
