NWRD Committees Will Still Meet in January 2021
The National Windshield Repair Division (NWRD) will still hold a number of committee meetings January 11-13 even though Auto Glass Week 2021 has been moved to June 7-9. These committee meetings will be held by video conference. The second meeting of the year will be in June.
Send Us Your News
One of the challenges we face in the auto glass repair industry is marketing our companies, products and services to consumers. NWRD has great members and amazing people in this multi-faceted industry of ours, and NWRD can help.
Let NWRD help get the word out about your company in social media. We are also happy to help our members with publicity by sending out press releases to their local media.
If you have items of note that we can feature or help you publicize, we want to know about them. Do you have any news, about your business or personnel? Has your company recently won an award? Have you hired new leadership? Have you added a new location? Have you participated in a charity event – food, clothing or blood drive? Have you hosted a charity event? We want to know!
If you have news you would like us to help you publicize with a press release or if we can feature your news in a future newsletter or social media post, please email Janeen Mulligan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Also, feel free to include our social media links in your social media posts for amplification and greater credibility as a safety conscious glass service provider. These links are located at the bottom of this newsletter.
The Industry's Seismic Shift
There is no truer cliche: what a difference time makes. Consider how different our lives are now than they were just nine months ago, and how a short amount of time can change everything about those lives.
ROLAGS 2 is in Development
The Repair of Laminated Auto Glass Standard (ROLAGS for short) was first developed nearly 20 years ago. It was originally developed by the National Windshield Repair Association under the procedures of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The ANSI standards development process is a rigorous and transparent consensus-building process that is open to all interested parties and culminates in an ANSI-approved voluntary industry standard. It is the same process that was used to develop the AGRSS Standard. AGRSS deals with replacement; ROLAGS deals with repair.
Call for ROLAGS 2 Members
The National Windshield Repair Division (NWRD), division of the Auto Glass Safety Council (AGSC), announces the creation of a committee to develop the ANSI/AGSC/NWRD Repair of Laminated Automotive Glass Standard 2 (ROLAGS 2). Directly and materially affected parties who are interested in participating as a member of the ANSI consensus body for this Standard please contact Kathy Bimber at 540-720-7484 or email email@example.com for an application. The next meeting will be held Sunday, June 6 at 12:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Orlando.
NWRD Issues Manual on Providing Services During Pandemic
The National Windshield Repair Division has issued a new manual on providing services during the COVID-19 crisis. Dealing with COVID-19 in the Workplace provides manufacturers, suppliers and auto glass repair and replacement companies with information on proper procedures and equipment for companies to use to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. It is available at no charge to all members.
Topics include classifying employee risk, controls to reduce the threat of exposure, policies and facility design changes to put in place, proper personal protective equipment (PPE), and screening, safety checks and cleaning. The manual also includes a section specifically for auto glass repair and replacement technicians, education and resource links. If you are a member and have not received your copy, please go to https://nwrassn.org/member-resources/.
NWRD Insurance Guide Is Now Available to All Current Members
The revised insurance guide "A Technician's Guide to Contacting and Communicating with Insurance Companies" is now available to all NWRD and AGSC members.
This Guide was designed to make the windshield repair technician's job easier by providing known insurance contact information in one place. The listings are organized by insurance company as well as by claims administrator.
If you are a member with NWRD and would like a current copy and have not received one yet, please contact Janeen Mulligan at firstname.lastname@example.org for your free copy. This brochure, which took many hours to research, is available to members only.

Windshield Savers Are Now Available
The NWRD windshield savers are now available for purchase. This popular product has been an NWRD staple for more than a decade. Instruct your customers and prospective customers to cover newly acquired rock chips on their windshield with the small adhesive backed circles on the backside of the card to keep out moisture and contaminates until it can be repaired. Add your company's name and phone number to the front and use NWRD chip savers as your business cards.

Massachusetts Voters Favor AGSC Supported Initiative
Massachusetts voters overwhelmingly passed a "Right to Repair" Ballot Initiative in the November elections that was supported by the Auto Glass Safety Council. The initiative will ensure that vehicle repair information is available to independent repair facilities so car owners are not forced to go to car manufacturer's dealers to repair their vehicles and would apply to auto glass repair and replacement.
