This month includes Mothers’ Day, and we are spotlighting NWRD member Glass CRP Chip/Crack Pit Repair located in El Paso, Texas. Its owner and sole employee company is Carol Brown of El Paso.
Carol is a mother of three, a grandmother of eight, and a great-grandmother of twelve, with two more on the way. She lives a full life and enjoys hiking in the Franklin mountains. In fact, she organizes and leads a hiking group of 8-20 people almost every weekend. The Franklin mountains are located just inside the city limits on about 26,000 acres.
She has been doing windshield repair for 36 years. Her late husband had a windshield repair business of his own, which he sold in 1996. Her brother-in-law also had a business which he started in 1977. When he decided to leave the business in 1984, Carol decided that she would purchase his company.
When asked how the industry has changed in the last five years, Carol said, “The resins have gotten better, but the overall process is pretty must the same.” She is very thankful to the National Windshield Repair Division for alerting members to legislation and keeping members informed.
“A common misconception customers have toward windshield repair is in the wording”, Carol says. “They think repair is the same as replacement. Also, they are surprised at how little time it takes for a repair to be completed (about 30-40 minutes).”
Her motivation for continuing in the windshield repair business? She loves to be outside and work, and also enjoys meeting interesting people.
Her reputation for excellent repairs and service is what is so special about her and her company. She also explains to the customer exactly what is doing so they understand.
Regarding the current state of the world and the Coronavirus she says, “The Coronavirus has affected my sales. Things have slowed down a bit, and people are definitely more conscious of distancing themselves. A windshield repair may have to wait until this epidemic is over.”
When asked to share a favorite quote of hers, Carol did not hesitate. “This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. Whatever it brings.”
Amen to that, Carol, Amen.
