When my wife and I began repairing windshields more than 20 years ago, there were not a lot of competitors in our area. As the years moved along we would see competition come and go–usually from out of town. They would blow in for a short time with low prices and no supportable warranty.

We quickly discovered that some fleets (such as used car lots) wanted repairs done at the lowest price available regardless of quality. Others wanted top-quality repairs that looked good and would last. Our business was founded on the latter. It has served us well for many years. Call us old-fashioned, but we believe in an America that produces quality products and services that we can be proud of.

That’s why we at the NWRA have produced the Repair of Laminated Auto Glass Standard™ (ROLAGS) and are working on other standards and programs for our industry. One we are working on is the Trusted Tech Program. Members of the program will follow ethical guidelines that will set us apart from the “tumbleweed techs” we all see blow through our towns. We’re not discouraging anyone from expanding their territories. A Trusted Tech will operate with integrity or be removed from the program. We believe this will enhance the professionalism of our industry.

In addition to the Trusted Tech Program, we are developing a national warranty to better protect your customers throughout the country. As these programs are developed, your ideas are encouraged and welcomed whether you’ve been repairing laminated auto glass for a short time or are an administrator for glass claims programs at your insurance company.

We appreciate all the varied ideas that work together to enhance our efforts at the NWRA.
